Welcome to “Sunshine & Butterflies”!!!! My name is Carla. Like most people, I have had significant life experiences. Some amazingly wonderful and others very painful. I try to be positive, upbeat, and true to my inner self. These are my thoughts I’d like to share.

Human Energy and How To Heal It
Our bodies, while bone, flesh, muscles, etc. – are truly spiritual beings with their own energy patterns. Have you ever been somewhere and the energy shifted when someone simply walks in? That’s the human energy I’m referring to and we all have it.
What is your energy?
Are you generally calm, or are you looking for the next argument? When something bothers you, are you angry? Dr Wayne Dyer states that “When you squeeze an orange, you’ll always get orange juice to come out. What comes out is what’s inside. The same logic applies to you: when someone squeezes you, puts pressure on you, or says something unflattering or critical, and out of you comes anger, hatred, bitterness, tension, depression, or anxiety, that is what’s inside. If love and joy are what you want to give and receive, change your life by changing what’s inside.”
Simple, yet powerful words: We have the ability to control our own energy. Most people do not think about this and maybe do not believe this, but it’s true. Yes, there are genetics, the way someone is raised, and life experiences; however, at the end of the day, the fact remains: Your secret thoughts, desires, fantasies, anger, loneliness, fear, love, despair…. These are what control your energy and your subconscious actions, and ultimately our overt and deliberate actions. This is how people come to believe that their life is destined to be the way it is. This is simply not true.
You have the ability to change and improve yourself. Just like a sound mixer on a movie or soundtrack, minor adjustments can make huge differences in the end result.
So, what is your energy? Do you feel comfortable in your own skin? If not, YOU can change it. Here’s basic steps:
#1 Learn to relax. A relaxed, calm, and clear mind is better equipped to make thoughtful, calculated, and sound decisions. Practice basic meditation or prayer and make time to learn relaxation techniques that work for you. Practice tuning out the noise and listen to your inner thoughts and voice. Don’t argue with yourself at this point, merely listen to what your soul has to say. This may take some practice to fully reach this step.
#2 Define who you are and if it’s who you want to be. Sounds simple. Is who you are today who you want to be? Did things get sidetracked while you were living life? Or maybe what you’ve worked toward isn’t really what you want now. If not, take some time with your own mind and define the kind of things you want in your life and who you want to be. Writing it down helps. Setting a goal and then changing your mindset to believe it can and will happen is a crucial step. This requires consistent control of your own mind. This might be difficult, but it is achievable.
#3 Look for paths forward toward your goals. These could include school, training or classes, studying something you’re interested in, starting a new hobby, volunteering, etc. Learn to meditate. Learn healthy self-soothing techniques when anxious. Discover more natural food choices. If you treat your body to clean energy, it improves your body functions. Herbal teas, fresh fruits and vegetables, lower simple carb intake, work to reduce or eliminate processed foods from your diet. Find an exercise regiment that works for you – even if that means small steps like chair yoga or getting a few extra steps in your daily routine. Remove toxins as much as possible: quit smoking and binge drinking, review your medical treatments and question if there are natural alternatives (*NOT suggesting to forego medical advice and treatment, simply stating to TALK with your doctors about possible natural alternatives. Example: My cardiologist was extremely helpful discussing alternatives when I was trying to cut down on pain pill consumption yet still function for my career). I’m not suggesting to never have a soda or your favorite treats again, just be mindful of what you are putting into your body and what it does for you.
#4 As with physical toxins, there are people in your life who may be toxic to your energy. This is not an easy subject to tackle and will be deeply personal. Clearly and critically look at the multiple relationships you have in your life. Community, work, friends, family. What interactions reek of unhealthy vibes? These are the ones you need to decide how to rectify. Possibilities could include analysis of situation and changing your thoughts, changing jobs, moving, and/or finding new friends. This needs a clear mind (#1) to make serious decisions.
#5 Be gentle with yourself! Your entire life was spent getting your energy to where it is. Allow time to go through the processes necessary for lasting changes.
These steps sound simple. But changing your energy and your life is not always easy. If you attempt and fail, do not give up. Start again. You may need to engage professionals (therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, mentors, spiritual guidance counselors) in your efforts to become who you want to be.
I will be sharing my thoughts and my journey on my blog: Sunshine & Butterflies
